About Lumina Neurocognition

My work at Lumina Neurocognition centers on a simple but powerful principle: the brain functions best when the entire body is balanced, regulated, and free from chronic stress.

Modern neuroscience has shown that prolonged stress can significantly affect the brain. Elevated stress hormones influence memory, attention, emotional regulation, and overall cognitive performance. Over time, chronic stress can contribute to mental fatigue, brain fog, and increased vulnerability to cognitive decline.

The encouraging news is that the brain is highly adaptable. When the body returns to a state of balance and ease, the nervous system stabilizes and the brain is able to function with greater clarity, resilience, and vitality.

My work focuses on helping people create the internal conditions where both the brain and body can thrive.

I am a board-certified Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) with specialized expertise in cognition, communication, and social functioning. My clinical training focuses on how the brain processes language, attention, and complex social interaction—systems that are deeply influenced by stress and nervous system regulation.

Through years of clinical work, I observed how strongly the state of the body influences cognitive performance. When the nervous system is overwhelmed or dysregulated, thinking becomes more difficult, memory becomes less reliable, and emotional resilience declines.

This insight led me to pursue advanced training as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP), a neuroscience-informed approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine that focuses on resolving stress patterns stored in the body and restoring healthy nervous system regulation.

In addition to my clinical and somatic training, I have studied meditation and traditional Hatha-Tantra yoga, disciplines that have long explored how breath, posture, attention, and internal awareness can cultivate deep balance within the body and mind. These practices help support states of physiological regulation that modern neuroscience increasingly recognizes as essential for optimal brain function.

At Lumina Neurocognition, these perspectives come together in an integrated approach to brain health.

By helping the body release accumulated stress and return to a state of balance and ease, it becomes possible to support clearer thinking, greater emotional resilience, and stronger cognitive vitality. When the body is regulated and energy is no longer consumed by chronic stress, the brain is able to operate more efficiently and creatively.

This work is ultimately about supporting lifelong brain health—helping the brain and body function together in a way that promotes clarity, resilience, vitality, and wellbeing across the lifespan.
