Lifelong Brain + Body Health

The Lumina Approach
My approach at Lumina Neurocognition™ is grounded in a simple but powerful understanding: optimal brain function begins with balance in the body.
Modern neuroscience increasingly shows that the brain and body operate as an integrated system. When the body is burdened by chronic stress, the nervous system remains in a constant state of activation, which can interfere with focus, memory, emotional regulation, and overall cognitive performance. When the body returns to balance and regulation, the brain is able to function with greater clarity, resilience, and vitality.
Rather than forcing change or trying to “fix” the mind through effort alone, my work focuses on helping the body release accumulated stress and return to a natural state of ease. As the body settles, the brain can reorganize and operate more efficiently.
This process supports lifelong brain health and cognitive vitality.
Through somatic awareness, nervous system regulation, and contemplative practices such as meditation and traditional Hatha yoga, we work with the body as an essential partner in optimizing brain function. These practices help restore the natural rhythms of the nervous system, allowing the brain and body to function together more harmoniously.
As stress decreases and regulation improves, many people experience:
• clearer thinking and improved focus
• greater emotional resilience
• increased energy and vitality
• improved cognitive performance
• a deeper sense of balance and ease in everyday life
Over time, supporting this brain–body balance can play an important role in protecting long-term cognitive health and helping the brain function at its highest potential.
At Lumina Neurocognition, the goal is not simply stress reduction, but creating the conditions where both brain and body can thrive across the lifespan.
Foundations of the Lumina Approach
My work integrates insights from modern neuroscience with time-tested mind-body practices that support nervous system regulation and whole-body balance.
Science-Based Training
Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
Clinical expertise in cognition, communication, and the neurological foundations of language and social interaction.
Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP)
Advanced training in neuroscience-informed methods for resolving chronic stress patterns and restoring nervous system regulation.
Meditation and Mind-Body Regulation
Practices that support attentional stability, emotional regulation, and cognitive clarity.
Contemplative and Embodied Traditions
Hatha-Tantra Yoga
Traditional breath, posture, and awareness practices that cultivate balance and resilience within the nervous system.
These contemplative traditions have explored the relationship between breath, body, and consciousness for thousands of years. Modern neuroscience increasingly confirms what these traditions recognized long ago: when the body is balanced and the nervous system is regulated, the mind becomes clearer, more stable, and more resilient.
An Integrated Understanding of Brain Health
The Lumina approach bridges modern neuroscience and embodied wisdom traditions, bringing together science-based understanding of the brain with practices that help restore balance throughout the body.
When the body releases chronic stress and returns to regulation, the brain gains access to its natural capacities for clarity, creativity, resilience, and vitality.
By supporting this balance, the goal is to help people optimize brain function, strengthen cognitive health, and cultivate lifelong wellbeing.
